Basic Ophthalmology for Medical Students and Primary Care Residents. I practiced internal medicine in New York City, first at a small community hospital where I predominantly worked with residents and medical students and mostly taught principles of outpatient medicine, ambulatory care and interviewing . Students today are more accomplished, more diverse, and there is now a focus on the highly relevant basic science of medical practice, including medical ethics and public health. The reason medical care in this country is fragmented is that there is an inversion of the correct ratio between primary care and specialty physicians. All the other evaluations and grading schemes that reward top performers with dermatology and ophthalmology training slots are nothing but exercises in meaningless memorization that contributes nothing to caring for actual patients. This book is useful for all those who care for affected children, including paediatricians, primary care and emergency physicians, trainee ophthalmologists, trainee ophthalmologists, optometrists and medical students.
